The article below was copied from the website;http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2007/04/11/leak/index.html "Some very thoughtless person"Secretary of Defense Robert Gates complained bitterly today that "some very thoughtless person" at the Pentagon leaked word about duty extensions for Army units in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gates said that the leak robbed the Army "the opportunity to notify unit commanders who could then talk to their troops 48 hours before we made a public announcement." Was there maybe another reason that Gates wanted to keep the story under wraps? As War Room reader Terry Anastassiou notes, George W. Bush mentioned duty extensions just yesterday as one of the terrible things that might have to happen if Congress doesn't get him a timetable-free "emergency" supplemental spending bill soon. At a speech at an American Legion post in Virginia, Bush said: "If Congress fails to pass a bill I can sign by mid-May ... Some of our forces now deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq may need to be extended, because other units are not ready to take their places." We're just guessing here, but it's not all that hard to imagine how this might have played out for the White House. Bush plays hardball with the Democrats into May. The Pentagon announces that it has to extend troop deployments by a few months. And the president says, "See, I warned you. Look what those Democrats have done."

I am really curious to hear from people (my fellow Z3 Readers, Close Friends, and Family) What "YOU" are doing to end this fricken war? Are you doing anti war activism? Are you maybe writing your Senators and Representative's? How about contacting the media, the white house or talk radio? How about blogging, videotaping, protesting, civil non-violent disobedience? How about singing for peace, praying for peace, walking for peace? I feel so alone from my close friends and family on this subject> Sure there is comrades who are "peacemakers" that I see regularly! But where is my family and my close friends? Don't they want Peace? So I am asking "what are you doing to promote peace in the world?" Contact me at: iam@joe-anybody.com and please tell me. Give me some encouragement, I am up till 3am almost every-night working on Peace in the world. I spend "EVERY WAKING MOMENT PROJECTING PEACE 24 hours-a-day" I am wanting my close Friends and family to support my Peacemaker Mission. Can you help a tired old hippie out? huh? Can you reach out to my hand in peace? I am upfront and curious ..... at least tell me something you are doing to help get this war to end! Take to The Streets May 1st 2007 In support of immigrant rights: No shopping, no work, no school!
Demand an end to "Deportations & raids"
Fight for equal rights for all workers, U.S. and foreign born!
Across the country on Tuesday, May 1st 2007, tens of thousands of workers are expected to take to the streets once again to say no to anti-immigrant, anti-worker policies.
The demonstrations are a continuation of last year’s historic marches of undocumented and documented immigrants as well as their supporters against the highly repressive and punitive Sensenbrenner legislation that criminalized workers.
The current raids and deportations in cities across the country carried out by ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) are just as deplorable and unacceptable.
By singling out Latinos, Asians, Muslims, Caribbeans, and Africans they are thoroughly racist. Not only are they meant to warn immigrants that they better not fight against super-exploitation, it is a message to all working people in this country. As the economic crisis deepens workers—whether they are foreign or U.S. born—are being warned that they had better accept these conditions. The raids and the anti-immigrant climate are designed to bust unions as well as to foster divisions among U.S. and foreign born workers.
But workers are fighting back. Across the country, the most exploited and poorest workers are standing together. Day laborers, for example are standing up to racist attacks whether they emanate from goons or from local city or state officials.
Others are standing up as well. Several unions such as the International Longshore Workers Union, Local 10 and the San Francisco Labor Council are passing resolutions in favor of May 1st and mobilizing to get people out on May Day. In New York , a UFCW local pushed the May 1st event at a labor event demanding justice for Smithfield workers in Tar Heel, North Carolina .
The International Action Center , a member of the New York May 1st Coalition and the National Movement for Worker and Immigrant Rights, is actively supporting these efforts in every way possible. We urge you to do the same!

Fake Maritime Boundaries (Iranian Waters)

The British Government has published a map showing the coordinates of the incident, well within an Iran/Iraq maritime border. The mainstream media and even the blogosphere has bought this hook, line and sinker.
But there are two colossal problems. A) The Iran/Iraq maritime boundary shown on the British government map does not exist. It has been drawn up by the British Government. Only Iraq and Iran can agree their bilateral boundary, and they never have done this in the Gulf, only inside the Shatt because there it is the land border too. This published boundary is a fake with no legal force. B) Accepting the British coordinates for the position of both HMS Cornwall and the incident, both were closer to Iranian land than Iraqi land. Go on, print out the map and measure it. Which underlines the point that the British produced border is not a reliable one. None of which changes the fact that the Iranians, having made their point, should have handed back the captives immediately. I pray they do so before this thing spirals out of control. But by producing a fake map of the Iran/Iraq boundary, notably unfavourable to Iran, we can only harden the Iranian position. A Peaceful Non Violent Demonstration with a message of "No More War Funding"
It happened this afternoon, and a small group from
was there to urge Sen. Smith to vote against all funding for the War in Iraq.
The letter was read to the Senators two reps who came down to get the petition signatures and (probably to diffuse any hoopla over any arrest at the Senators office Private-Property-Residence)
After delivering a petition list of citizens against funding this war, which was about as long as 1/2 of a basketball court, the two women tried to enter building lower lobby doors and were blocked by the nice security man and arrested by portland police, they were then walked two blocks to the Justice Center in handcuffs. I wish drivers-going-by knew what & who these brave peacemakers who looked like average cuffed criminals were and why they were walking handcuffed down the street.... to a jail cell of cold IRON and cement
...nice place for "peace makers" it 'hones their spirit.'
These Portland citizens are in jail tonight for simply promoting PEACE
By their actions they were doing one thing "They are - trying to end this war"
A congressman's office on "private property"?
Well how convenient!
There was no "Corporate Media"?
Well how convenient!
That is why I made sure I was there on my lunch hour with plenty of tape
As I filmed these dedicated people, I wonder what "each" and "every" one of us is doing for their part to "help end this war?"
Please ask yourself that question and take some action if your not already.
I am just trying to encourage not be bossy
Our officials need to see more people become active - let the world know - You don't have to get arrested but you do need to speak up LOUD and clear
"WE DON'T WANT WAR NO MORE"
There has to be the voices that say "STOP THE WAR - NOW!"
.......because without those voices what is left ....?

we all NEED to rise up and say like we heard today ...
