Flt Lt Kendall-Smith Gets a Prison Term and says he would not back down or change his attitude concerning this war or his participating in it.

In surfing the anti-war websites I got this information from this site --> www.guardian.co.uk! and I feel like spreading this mans story, as he makes a stand against this stupid war;

Kendall-Smith also said to police last year "As a commissioned officer I am required to consider each and every order that is given to me and I am required to consider the legality of each order in domestic and international law.

I have satisfied myself that the actions of the armed forces in Iraq were in fact unlawful, as was the conflict," he said. "I believe that the current occupation of Iraq is an illegal act and for me to comply with an act which is illegal would put me in conflict with both domestic and international law."

Then he says ....


"I have two great loves; medicine and the RAF. To take the decision I have taken saddens me greatly but I feel I have no choice."


Well Z3 Readers...guess what?
Kendall-Smith was a RAF doctor and one who loved his job and his country, but he also refused to go to Iraq when ordered to, on the grounds that the war was illegal.
He now is jailed for eight months in what the judge described as a message to the armed forces about the consequences of rejecting "the policy of Her Majesty's government".

Apparently it was not Flt Lt Kendall-Smith's responsibility to judge the legality of orders given to him, nor make charges against those superiors of his that had higher rank!

Yesterday the judge said Kendall-Smith's understanding of the crime of aggression under international law was "seriously flawed".

The judge described Kendall-Smiths accusations of a crime as..... "a crime which can only be committed by those responsible for the policy of a nation at the top of government or of the armed forces and that responsibility for it does not trickle down to those at lower levels of the chain of command".

But Ft Lt Kendall-Smith told the court.. "I have evidence that the Americans were on a par with Nazi Germany with its actions in the Persian gulf. I have documents in my possession which support my assertions. This is on the basis that ongoing acts of aggression in Iraq and systematically applied war crimes provide a moral equivalent between the US and Nazi Germany."

Flt Lt Kendall-Smith said he considered the war in Iraq to be the equivalent of an "imperial invasion and occupation". He said he was extremely disturbed by America's "imperial campaign of military conquest", which was in direct conflict with his duties.

Where was Cynthia during that dinner? She wasn’t there. She was off violating a direct order from Nancy Pelosi not to attend a massive anti-war rally on the Mall. She was standing with Cindy Sheehan. She was giving a speech denouncing the war in Iraq and the Bush administration. She was doing her job.

Now after reading this article and in context of my blog articles from below ...consider that there is more to be said than what just seems she hit a security cop with her cell phone. The rash of shit to put it mildly she endures for this country is astonishing.

In 2005, he was the top man at Verizon and got a raise of 48% - to $19.4 million. Wow...you would guess that Verizon had a very good year, right?

And, you would be wrong. Verizon's owners saw nothing but misery. Their stock went down 26%. Their bonds were downgraded. Earnings declined 5.5%. The other managers had to be clipped back; 50,000 managers had their pensions "frozen," according to the New York Times report.

How did Mr. Seidenberg do so well amidst so much financial suffering? He hired an independent consultant to help determine what his pay should be.
This consultant noted that the company had exceeded its "challenging" benchmarks and rolled over.
But it turns out the consultant was not so independent after all. Instead, he had been doing business with Verizon for years and had received about half a billion dollars from the company since 1997.

Neither Verizon nor the consultant is talking, according to the Times.

And then there is the headlines in the USA Today newspaper that the Daily Reconing Wewbsite points out ....No CEO's pay soared more than the CEO of Capital One Financial.

almost $250 million last year - a sum greater than the profits of 550
Fortune 1000 companies, including Goodyear Tire, Reebok and Pier 1

Or how about these guys...
Broadcom's Scott McGregor, hired by the semiconductor maker in January 2005, received $7.7 million in pay and bonus, plus stock options with a potential value of $101.9 million.
...and...
3M's James McNerney, who replaced Boeing CEO Harry Stonecipher in June, received $25.3 million in Boeing stock to compensate him for losing potential payouts at 3M. His last six months at 3M proved lucrative, too. He got almost $41 million ? $8.4 million in compensation and $32.4 million exercising 3M stock options
....and...
John Mack, who replaced ousted Morgan Stanley chief Philip Purcell in June, pulled in more than $68 million, including $37.8 million in restricted stock and $30 million exercising stock options

Supporters of U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay protested at an event Thursday held by the Democratic candidate for the congressman's seat, and the event quickly dissolved into a shouting and shoving match. Police were called, but made no arrests.
"I got pushed. I got hit. I got a sign wadded up in my face and my hat pulled down over my eyes," said Marsha Rovai, 69, a supporter of Nick Lampson. "They just did it to be nasty."
DeLay campaign manager Chris Homan said he organized the protest but DeLay, a Republican, didn't know about it.
"Mr. Lampson is going to have to get used to being confronted about his voting record the next seven months," Homan said.
DeLay, who is under indictment on campaign finance charges, announced this week that he will resign from Congress sometime before mid-June.
At the news conference, Lampson called on the governor to set a May 13 special election so the district would be represented after DeLay leaves.
But moments after the event began in DeLay's home town, Lampson and his supporters were surrounded by protesters who held up hand-written signs. Lampson was silenced by their chanting.
Republican Gov. Rick Perry later said that, unless DeLay offers him his resignation letter by the end of the week, the seat would not be filled until the November general election. The election of a Democrat now could give the Democratic Party a leg up in November.
Lampson represented an adjacent district for eight years until DeLay-engineered redistricting cost him re-election in 2004. He said the protest was nothing new.

Sen McKinney has been very hard on the War Machine
