Homeless Protest and Joe Anybody is there
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: Video taping and sharing can be done by any joe anybody

So there is this protest going on in Portland downtown that is pertaining to a new proposed law that would make it illegal to sit or lie on the sidewalk (downtown only) and if your blocking so much of a % of the "right of way". My videos are here on Portland INDY MEDIA http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2007/03/355710.shtml

Number 1    YouTube

Number 2     Google

I believe this is being organized by the PBA or something like that. Basically the downtown business don't want "homeless or loitering" in front of their business, so they are pushing behind this unconstitutional law. As one can hear in my crappy audio taping that was with the video portion, mentions that this law is to be implanted after a few measure are in place.....and I did say a "few" ....those being .....public restroom, benches (dozen) and day shelter available.

I read on a comment left on INDY MEDIA where a similar bill was passed and then was found unconstitutional.   Here is what that poster said:

Jones et al v Los Angeles (April 14, 2006)

"federal appeals court panel ruled on Friday that arresting homeless people for sleeping, sitting or lying on sidewalks and other public property when other shelter is not available was cruel and unusual punishment."
New York Times April 15

The federal appeals court in the article is the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and it includes under its jurisdiction Portland Oregon. It looks to me like the "sit/lie" ordinance is unconstituional on its face and could cost the city lots of money if someone were to be charged with the heinous crime of sitting or lying on the sidewalk, and then sued the city, citing the case above.

Just goes to show that the cops and tose who give them orders are not the least bit interested in justice or our safety. Rather, they are waging class warfare against the majority of people, and especially those of the lowest economic class, unable to defend themselves.

Topic: MEDIA

So I read that an Egyptian blogger is looking at a 4 year sentence for expressing his opinion. Ha ... don't let the Gonzales/Bush thugs hear about this ..... they would love to apply the same oppression!

Obviously freedom of speech is somewhat still protected here in the US.

But it is under attack and being challenged constantly, post 911, here in the USA and around the world. Censorship for National Security reasons requires no explaination....."Do it, or go to prison for a long time" oh do as a under the umbrella of terrorism and it will be prison for life with no trial ....... amazing my friends isn't it?

Check this link from the Washington Post that explains a little more on Abdel Kareem Nabil the Egyptian free speech civil rights hero facing jail:  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/27/AR2007022700065.html

Paradigm Shifting
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: the 60 & 70 shift happened - now 35 years latter it shifts again

A Paradigm Shift

Is when a significant change happens - usually from one fundamental view to a different view. In most cases, some type of major discontinuity occurs as well.

Thomas Kuhn wrote about Paradigm Shift during the early 1960s, and explained how "series of peaceful interludes punctuated by intellectually violent revolutions" caused "one conceptual world view to be replaced by another view."

In laymen terms, Paradigm Shift is a popular, or perhaps, not so popular shift or transformation of the way we Humans perceive events, people, environment, and life altogether. It can be a national or international shift, and could have dramatic effects -- whether positive or negative -- on the way we live our lives today and in the future.

Paradigm Shift: A Summary

In today's society, we've all witnessed a major shift already. When we look back upon "counterculture" (More information here: http://psychcentral.com/psypsych/Counterculture), we trace some of the origins to the definition of "Paradigm Shift."

During the counterculture era (1960s-1970s), younger generations opposed authority and were very much at odds with society's accepted belief systems and standards of living. In the counterculture movement (fueled by the Vietnam War), social conservatives were deemed "social repressionists."

The enlightening Paradigm Shift exploded into innovative ideas about religion, society and spirituality, notwithstanding traditional Western ideologies.

In today's society, we see a shift toward a more blinded-oppresionistic view; breed by censorship. The ironic juxtapositions between the Paradigm Shift of nearly half a century ago and society's youth today are chillingly revelational.

Youth's opposition to authority may not have always been in the best interest of humanity; however, it was the Paradigm shift that led to revolutional changes that improved racial tensions and relationships, opened communication lines to outside nations, and ended the Vietnam War.

The end result included varying degrees of negative and positive transformations that allowed people to open their hearts and minds to multicultural diversity; and promoted liberty and freedom -- on the flipside of the shift, there was increased promiscuity, higher divorce rates, higher drug use, and imposed socialistic views and applications of welfare systems.

Today's Paradigm Shift

In lieu of recent times; however, a Paradigm Shift has been evolving. Have you been paying attention? Youth -- today, is seemingly under the hypnotic spell of invisible censorship. What is "invisible censorship?" Local news stations often report half-truths, or biased news reports in relation to national and international events; including: environmental, global, and political reports. Many traditional educational systems are imposing personal political views upon students; and incorporate these beliefs and attitudes into instructional plans. Other invisible censorship, is the fact that many events are brushed under the rug and are not given adequate media coverage as opposed to propaganda-style news.

So, in essence, what does this Paradigm Shift translate to with regard to human life and environmental habits? What could be the possible outcome of such dynamic and interventional metamorphosis?

Ghost Prisoner
Mood:  irritated
Now Playing: This is not my America - Read this and you will agree

The 50-page report, “Ghost Prisoner: Two Years in Secret CIA Detention,” contains a detailed description of a secret CIA prison from a Palestinian former detainee who was released from custody last year. Human Rights Watch has also sent a public letter to US President George W. Bush requesting information about the fate and whereabouts of the missing detainees.
“President Bush told us that the last 14 CIA prisoners were sent to Guantanamo, but there are many other prisoners ‘disappeared’ by the CIA whose fate is still unknown,” said Joanne Mariner, terrorism and counterterrorism director at Human Rights Watch. “The question is: what happened to these people and where are they now?”
In early September, 14 detainees were transferred from secret CIA prisons to military custody at Guantanamo Bay. In a televised speech on September 6, President Bush announced that with those 14 transfers, no prisoners were left in CIA custody.
The former CIA detainee, Marwan Jabour, told Human Rights Watch about a number of other people who were in CIA detention but whose present whereabouts are unknown. Jabour saw one of these men, Algerian terrorism suspect Yassir al-Jazeeri, as recently as July 2006 in CIA custody.
“The Bush administration needs to provide a full accounting of everyone who was ‘disappeared’ into CIA prisons, including their names, locations, and when they left US custody,” Mariner said.
Human Rights Watch’s
letter to Bush contained two lists of missing detainees. The first list names 16 people whom Human Rights Watch believes were held in CIA prisons and whose current whereabouts are unknown. The second list names 22 people who may have been held in CIA prisons and whose current whereabouts are unknown.
Human Rights Watch expressed concern about what may have happened to the missing prisoners. One possibility is that the US may have transferred some of them to foreign prisons where they remain under the CIA’s effective control.
Another worrying possibility is that prisoners were transferred from CIA custody to places where they may face torture. A serious concern is that some of the missing prisoners might have been returned to their countries of origin, which include Algeria, Egypt, Libya and Syria, where the torture of terrorism suspects is common.
The new report provides the most comprehensive account to date of life in a secret CIA prison, as well as new information regarding 38 possible detainees. The report explains that these prisoners’ treatment by the CIA constitutes enforced disappearance, a practice that is absolutely prohibited under international law.
Marwan Jabour was arrested by Pakistani authorities in May 2004 in Pakistan and held for more than a month at a secret facility in Islamabad operated by both US and Pakistani personnel, during which time he was badly abused. In June, he was flown to another secret prison, which he believes was in Afghanistan, where all or nearly all of the personnel were American.
His clothes were taken from him when he arrived, and he was left completely naked for a month and a half, including during questioning by women interrogators and filming. He was chained tightly to the wall of his small cell so that he could not stand up, placed in painful stress positions so that he had difficulty breathing, and told that if he did not cooperate he would be put in a suffocating “dog box.”
During the more than two years that he was held in this secret prison, Jabour spent nearly all of his time alone in a windowless cell, with little human contact besides his captors. Although he worried incessantly about his wife and three young daughters, he was not allowed even to send them a letter to reassure them that he was alive.
“It was a grave,” Jabour later told Human Rights Watch. “I felt like my life was over.”
The wife of another former CIA detainee whose whereabouts remain unknown told Human Rights Watch that she has had to lie to her four children about her husband’s “disappearance.” She explained that she could not bear telling them that she did not know where he was.
“What I’m hoping,” she said, “is if they find out their father has been detained, that I’ll at least be able to tell them what country he’s being held in, and in what conditions.”
Enforced disappearance involves arbitrary, secret and incommunicado detention, and poses a serious risk to the right to life and to protection from torture and other mistreatment. As these cases make clear, enforced disappearance also inflicts severe mental pain and suffering on the “disappeared” person’s family.
Human Rights Watch expressed grave concern about President Bush’s stated view that the Military Commissions Act of 2006 permits the government to restart the CIA’s secret prison program. Human Rights Watch called upon the Bush administration to reject the use of secret detention and coercive interrogation as tactics in fighting terrorism, and announce that the CIA’s detention and interrogation program has been permanently discontinued.
“The CIA program – and the civilian leaders who created it – have inflicted tremendous harm on the reputation, moral standing, and integrity of the United States,” Mariner said. “It’s time for President Bush to repudiate this program, and to take steps to repair the damage it has done.”

Grassroots News Vol 6 No.2

Grassroots News

Torture Taxis and the Rendition Program

News on the ProgramDespite the Bush administration's assertion that it transferred the sum total of men, 14, who were in the rendition program to Guantánamo, many more men remain unaccounted for. Ghost Prisoner is a Human Rights Watch report of what happened to Marwan Jabour and lists others who have been captured and whose whereabouts are still unknown.

The Italian government has indicted 25 CIA agents and a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force in the kidnapping of an imam, Osama Mustafa Hassan Nasr. German prosecutors have issued warrants for 13 CIA agents whom they suspect of kidnapping Khaled el-Masri. (See the 2/17 Washington Post article.)

What You Can Do: Representative Edward Markey (D-MA) plans to reintroduce his Torture Outsourcing Prevention Act (H.R. 952 when it was introduced in the 109th Congress), which would prohibit the United States from transferring people to countries where torture or other inhuman treatment is known to occur for purposes of interrogation or detention. Markey is currently seeking co-sponsors.

Grassroots activists are actively involved in shutting the program down:

Mystery Uncovered in Portland, Oregon—Unraveling the mystery of the Gulfstream V, which has ferried hooded and shackled passengers to various prisons all over Europe, is retired Rutgers professor Michael Munk. He has been ramping up the pressure on Portland attorney Scott Caplan, who appears to be the Northwest link to the CIA and its torture taxis. Caplan’s phantom client, Leonard Bayard, is listed as owner of the Gulfstream V. Recently, Munk convinced the Oregon State Bar to start an investigation into whether attorney Scott Caplan has represented Bayard Foreign Marketing, under false pretenses.

Munk recently found two documents allegedly signed by Bayard, with wildly differing slants and contours in the signatures: another clue that the company is actually a CIA front. You can see the signatures in this report from KATU-television, or look at the BORDC website: http://bordc.org/threats/flights.php.

Work Continues in North Carolina—On February 22, the North Carolina Stop Torture Coalition held a Vigil at US 1 and NC 56 highways when President Bush was taking a flight a helicopter from RDU to Novozymes. The vigil and street theater activities were covered by News 14 Charlotte. (Click on "Bush protestors" to view the video.) USA Building Atomic Warheads
Mood:  loud
Now Playing: NEOCONS to build nuke Warhead and Lie about Iran / N. Korea
Topic: WAR

I can not believe I just read these two headlines on Yahoo News today.

I am am dumbfounded and amazed that these headlines are even being written. Where is citizen outrage?

Where is the masses that should step up and say "this is wrong and unacceptable"?

The first link is about how the USA has faulty <again?>weapon information this time about Iran and N. Korea.

See the link and short paragraph I copied from the news cast on the faulty information:

VIENNA, Austria - New doubts are arising about the accuracy of U.S. intelligence on the nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran, only a few years after faulty warnings about weapons of mass destruction helped President Bush justify the invasion of Iraq.

North Korea agreed earlier this month to dismantle its plutonium-producing nuclear facilities in exchange for economic aid and security assurances from the United States and four other world or regional powers. The pact successfully put aside for now the possibility of military action.

But the Western standoff with Iran remains tense. The Bush administration says it won't rule out an attack if Tehran refuses to end its nuclear enrichment program.

Yes my fellow Z3 Readers, this administration is lying again, like they did in telling all us citizens, Bin Ladin was behind the 911 attack.

(When really they were behind it --> see my link here on the 911 Truth)

They (Neocons) are lying like they did in the Downing Street memo which was more proof that they had premeditated plans on invading Iraq over "phony" WMD charges. <Lies!>

Lies and Faulty - Misleading Intelligence = Neocon Agenda

The second story in todays headlines is about the USA using NUKE warheads. Can you believe I am telling you we, in the USA, are pursuing the building of Nuclear Warheads?

Well it is out of hand and here is the AP News Report on this lovely Neocon death wish:

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration selected a design Friday for a new generation of atomic warheads, taking a major step toward building the first new nuclear weapon since the end of the Cold War nearly two decades ago.

So there are two outragous headlines Z3 Readers

How do these facts set with you?  Are you paying attention?
