Damn the Torpedo's

Now Playing: A Call For Patriots!
Topic: TORTURE
Dear Congressman,
I am pleading with you to stop the President from implanting his suggested Terrorism law changes.
I urge you to not support President Bush’s plan to interrogate and prosecute terrorism suspects in the manner that he is suggesting.
It is not in the Best Interest of the United States to “change the Geneva Convention laws that we abide by and have for over 60 years”
It is wrong to change the Army Field Manual to include the torture techniques that President Bush says we need to do.
I am appalled and sickened by our anti-humanitarian positions.
I am appalled on how we bypass International law and with our lawyers in tow, we challenge everything that, we as America used to stand for in the International community.
The whole world is watching our great country turn to unconventional and bad human rights policies, terrible ethic standards and implanting rewritten NSA secret backdoors to interrogation tactics that never were acceptable.
The United States should not jeopardize our own servicemen who need these worldwide protections as well as the Human Rights Protections and conduct of war policy.
This is afforded to our servicemen and women and as well as any to all humans, by countries agreeing on standards and rules, and ones that we as the USA also live by.
We should NOT endorse any of these suggested changes by President Bush.
We as a free civilized country are out of line and shamefully I suggest we need to return America to the proud and honorable standards that are respected and forthright.
Interrogating with the CIA and using private contractors in a way that they are not “accountable” or beyond the laws that govern all of us, as a Country is a sickening way to violate policy.
The torture and killings of captured “enemy combats” is a disgrace, the atrocities are abounding and never ending to this day. I will spare you the horrible sickening stories that are documented and been proved.
The whole world watches as we violate and do so, with presidential approval, and that my fair Senator, is just horrible.
The use of spying on Americans and circumventing Congress and the letter of our laws, is disgraceful.
Not only to the Citizens here in this country but to my children and future grandchildren as well.
The fact that I need to explain why our President would spy without a warrant to my young teenagers is incomprehensible and un-American and against the Constitution that I have cherished my whole life.
The use of rendition and out-of-country prisons is flat out wrong and needs to stop immediately.
Violating our own long established laws, these prisoners and some who even are innocent, or “minors”, and then some imprisoned for years with NO TRIAL and then some more who are tortured in secret confines out from under the umbrella of USA laws…how shameful for me to even have to write you about this type of conduct.
The use of waterboarding and degrading tactics, which the President and Military are now trying to get ‘approved’, should be thrown in a trashcan as soon as possible.
The true terror is how we are reacting to the world and the humans in it. The true terror is how we the USA treat others, I hate to say it but we even invaded these other peoples land with out due process or correct information, (WMD) and now the president wants to change laws and policy to protect his own self, with total disregard for Human Life or Law.
Please help restore the pride, security, the morals, the faith and the true meaning of freedom and democracy, and send to the International community a sign we are trying to be prudent and just. Please help Mr. Senator sir, show my teenager that we Americans still do respect Life and liberty and the rules of war
And that we will cooperate with Human Rights Watch, Red Cross, and world UN observers, concerning International and US Laws, which are on the books and work fine.
Because we are a nation of separation of powers, because we are a nation that does care how we act and treat others.
Please stand tall against these criminal ideas of miss treating captured foreign fighters, citizens and in many cases “innocent people caught up in this mess” which I hear too often that after no trials or reason, these prisoners have been released only to say we got the wrong person. Usually not even an apology for using rendition and/or horrible techniques, etc on them.
You as my Senator are my hope to get this country on its feet as a law abiding, and international respecting country like we used to be.
Yes there is fighting and terrorism, but that is no excuse to throw away, or change our laws on human dignity and rights.
That is no reason to scrap Geneva or UN policies on this topic.
Work within the laws of our land and don’t change them to allow George Bush to torture or degrade or humiliate anyone in our custody again.
You Mr. Senator are my hope. You are this nations hope.
I pray and hope and now plead in writing to you to “say No to violations and or any changes in our laws or actions that do not maintain human rights safeguards and show respect for all human life” By you standing up to this atrocity you will show that we respect law, order, and the fundamental rules of engagement.
President Bush is leading this country to be hated and is making us in the USA known for our terrible treatment of human beings.
This will not make us safer…it will actually do just the opposite.
Please stand up and show that the USA is going to change our direction. …By being respectful to Human Life. No lawyer needed. Respect is what I want genuine, honorable, and reasonable.
The president's supports a bill, allowing classified evidence to be withheld from defendants in terror trials and using coerced testimony, and that is unacceptable to me as an American.
And furthermore his proposed legislation also would revise the law that interprets the nation's obligations under the Geneva Conventions, the treaty that sets the standard for treatment of war prisoners, so that harsh interrogations of detainees would not be questioned in court.
Senator I ask you in all sincerity “are we out of our minds?”
Help preserve the sanity and logic of what we, as a country should be, one, which is a Proud and Honorable and Just in its laws type of country.
As we see today, Senators like John McCain of Arizona, John W. Warner of Virginia, and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who all were joined on Thursday by Colin L. Powell, formerly the secretary of state and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in challenging the administration’s approach. Thank you to these men I say!
And please I beg of you, make the stand all US citizens will be proud of.
Stand up and be counted for the right thing to do for my country, my children, and their children and for the whole world that is now watching our policies and actions.
For we all are impacted one way or another when poor policy and human rights violations are allowed by an administration that doesn’t care about human life
Join with Mr. Warner and Mr. McCain in objecting to President Bush and his Republican colleagues in Congress, and tell the Senate Armed Services Committee to produce legislation that would provide detainees with protections beyond those sought by Mr. Bush and the US Military, tell them to not accept these changes and to act like a true American would and should, this I plead with you today. I would appreciate if you could respond back to my plea for justice and honest government request. And remember to say no to the suggested bill the President is pushing for. It is wrong!
Thank You,
me .....Joe Anybody
